The Peace Resort was wonderful... on probably one of the best beaches in Koh Samui. Recommend getting the massage on the beach. Breakfast buffet was really good. I would definitely go back. It was walking distance to Fisherman's Village, a nice spot for market, restaurants and nightlife.

Thoroughly enjoyed it
“Real gem, great value!”
Pool and Beach side massage services - we had a massage every day..amazing!
Loads of loungers on the pool and beach.
Beach - great local food and sellers who do not pester!
great location.. only 10 minute walk from lots of restaurants in Fishermans village.
Ease of checkin, check out
Taxi service on site
list is endless! this place really is a gem.. i don't have any down sides to this place.. oh aside from 1 - my boyfriend was stung by a jelly fish in the water late in the afternoon.. so be careful.. especially at the moment during rainy season!
Must do - Peace Resort spa across the road.. for a little over 130 euro.. for 2 people we had 3 hours of heaven!! best spa treatment I've ever had!
We are just back from a 10 day stay in Peace Resort. We initially booked 4 nights to keep our options open, but we decided to stay for the rest of our holiday. We booked into a Superior Garden Bungalow which was lovely and private in beautifully landscaped gardens. We upgraded for our last 3 nights to a luxury wing room upstairs and it really was lovely.. so if you can afford it.. i'd try and upgrade, the huge bath for 2 on the balcony and the in room features really were a step up from the bungalow.
Plus points
Staff were fantastic, so helpful and wanting to help all the time
“Affordable luxury”
The hotel facilities were also of a very high standard with an open-air meeting room, library, dvd's for rent, an in-house spa, kids play-room and a renowned restaurant. At the large pool there were day-beds in the shade in addition to the usual pool loungers. We understood that the resort is owned and managed by a Thai family and their hands-on management approach was clear throughout our two-day stay there. One of the managers regularlyengaged with guests and ensured that we were well looked after. We also appreciated the eco-friendly policies of the hotel. Another great invention is the opportunity for guests to plant trees in the expansive tropical garden of the hotel as a living legacy of their stay. This is such a cool idea to leave a living memory of one's stay at the resort. Since our return back to South Africa we have been punting the resort to everybody. The hotel is very centrally located on Bophut beach and about a 10 min walk away from fisherman's village along the beach. Of the five hotels we stayed at during our 2-week stay on Samui, Peace Resort came out tops! It just had an edge over all the other hotels we stayed at which were also generally more expensive than Peace Resort. Excellent value for money indeed!! It probably provides the best accommodation option on the Western side of the island. We will be back.
It is not often that one finds a gem like this. From online booking, through actual check-in and right through to departure the staff was excellent; they were immensely friendly, helpful and professional at all times. We stayed in a downstairs deluxe terrace room. It was a spacious room with own private courtyard and with a spa-type bath in the courtyard!! The bathroom had a separate walk-in closet, separate toilet and shower, and built-in basin with two paper chandeliers on either side of the bathroom mirror. What impressed us most was all the little extra's in the room; bath crystals, tea-light fittings suspended from the roof over the courtyard bath, day-bed in the bedroom, a turn-down service at night, room deoderiser (Thai style) and an antique lacquer tissue box in the bathroom.
“we had the best holiday ever and would love to get back”
The accommodation is made up of mainly individual bungalows, it is like walking around a small village .
The staff were absolutley fantastic, very friendly and could not do enough to help, the whole experience from first booking and the way they responded promptly whenever i had a reason to e mail them,to when we sadly had to leave was just excellent. cannot recommend it highly enough, just briiliant.
“Beautiful, we loved our stay!”
Fantastic resort, Bophut was very quite, the perfect place. We stayed in a superior garden bungalow, the room was a good size, the bed was comfortable and it was very clean. The pool is very large and was never over crowded although people do pick their sunbeds early. The beach was beautiful and the ocean was great for swimming. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a tailors on site and my husband got a beautiful suit for a great price. There are several good restaurants near by that are cheaper than the food at the resort. The breakfast was great with lots of choice and very fresh. You can walk to the Fisherman's village along the beach (10 minutes), on Friday evenings they close the streets to traffic and have a market with food, drinks and plenty of touristy trinkets - worth a visit if you are there on a Friday.
“Lovely Place”
We did not use the pool because we spent most of the time on the beach. The pool area was a little crowded but not unbearably so. The setting for the accomdation is fabulous; it is as thougn you are staying in a tropical rain forest. The staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you.
You can walk along the beach to Fisherman's Village - just 10 mins.
There is no gym at the resort but we joined an open air gym on the main raod (linked to the go kart track). It only cost us 1000 Thai Baht each. The manager Alex could not do enough for us.
Plenty of good restaurants in FV. We particularly liked Starfish and Coffee. We also tried some street food. There is a lady who runs a stall between the food mart shop and the chemist across the road. 40 Thai Baht for a bowl of Thai soup. Fantastic.
I can thoroughly reccomend the Peace Resort. It might not have the same level of luxury as the Bo Phut Spa Resort next door but in my judgement it is better value for money..
So much so that we are hoping to return next year!!
We stayed in a deluxe garden bungalow. It was worth upgrading from a standard bungalow. .
“Peace resort... paradise”
We recently returned from a twelve night stay at Peace Resort on Koh Samui. We chose this resort after reading reviews on trip advisor, and we were delighted with what we found. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff fell over themselves to help us and make our stay memorable. We booked a basic garden villa and were really over the moon, it was set in gorgeous jungle type gardens. Rooms were immaculate and turned down twice a day. As other reviews mention the restaurant is a little expensvie compared to local restaurants but the food is excellent, whilst we were there they offered 50% off on Monday and Friday evenings. A special mention must be made to the food and beverage manager Chuay who was really helpful when we booked a Thai cooking course in the hotel kitchen (more reasonable then other cookery courses we could find) in the area. Would also highly recommend the massages in the pool sala next to the pool- they are about the same price as some of the street massages and the ladies do a great job.
We found the hotel excursions a little expensive but used the agents Time To Travel (as you come out of the hotel the office is on the right). They offered really competitive rates, often lower then the tour companies themselves. Nothing was too much trouble.
As seasoned travellers we found this resort excellent value for money, it was a little piece of paradise.
“Fabulous Resort”
After following advice, from Trip Advisor reviewers, we chose Peace Resort as our base in Ko Samui and we weren't disappointed. On arrival, after a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport, we were required to register. Charming staff sat us down in front of a large fan, gave us cold, damp towels and cups of iced fruit tea while the formalities were completed. A short walk from reception, through forest like terrain, to our bungalows. Air conditioning had been run so they had cool interiors. The decor is contemporary colonial with very solid furniture and fittings, LCD TV, fridge minibar and the largest double bed I have seen. Power sockets are US style with 2 flat pins, an 8 socket adaptor is provided. No problems with our bungalow which we stayed in happily for our entire 2 week stay. The resort has a large swimming pool area with bar and restaurant and provides direct access to the beach. The location is an ideal compromise between the sparsely populated peaceful south west and the dense commercialism of Chaweng beach in the east. It is only a 15 minute walk down the beach to "Fishermens Village" with fab shops and restaurants.
For the record, I would like to include one best and one worse thing about the resort.
- "Best" is the staff who are unfailingly friendly, helpful and charming.
- "Worst" is the WiFi which offers patchy coverage with inconsistent performance.
“We stayed here for 10 days with a 15 months baby and loved every minute of it”
We stayed here for 10 days with our 15 months old baby and It was lovely! The service was excellent and the staff very friendly and they just loved our baby. They were playing with him, smiling and talking, it was very nice. It's actually a very good resort if you have children. Both the big pool and babypool was great. There was an outdoor playground and a playroom inside.
The standard bungalow in the garden we stayed in was nice, we booked it via agoda.com 4 months ahead and we got 50% discount on our room.
The location is good, since we had the stroller we walked via the road to Fisherman's village and it took us approx. 10 mins. If you go by the beach it's probably 5 min.
The food in the Restaurant is excellent. But now comes the only negative thing we have and it's the prices, even though it's still cheaper than home to eat and drink, to have dinner we couldn't go cheaper than 1000 baht/night for two (+ 10% service +tax. )
They had very good lunch specials though with good prices and a very nice poolbar with happy hour.
I know several people wrote at TripAdvisor that they were not pleased with the breakfast, I loved it! It was fresh and had what I expect and like. fresh fruitjuice, omelette, sausage, pancake etc...
I can definitly recommend this resort for couple with or without children. But it's not a backpacker place.
“We loved it and we'll be back”
Perfect place to spend with friends or family. The hotel staff is very nice and friendly. I was very happy to spend 2 wonderful weeks in Peace Resort.
I don't often write reviews but our one week stay at Peace Resort was fantastic. The staff could not do enough to assist. We stayed in a beach front villa whilst our teenage girls stayed in a garden villa. They loved there's and we were very attached to our hut. The resort gardens are beautilful. The reception area has a lovely ambience. Very tropical and relaxed. Lovely restaurant, bar and pool area. We highly reccommend this resort.
“Beautiful beach resort”
Peace Resort offered comfortable and clean bungalows down paths among trees and beautiful flowers. There was a nice porch with chairs. My bungalow was very close to the beautiful pool and just past that, the beach. Massages were offered poolside. I did not take advantage of the bar and restaurant that were onsight. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Flat screen TV, refrigerator and hair dryer were available in the bungalow.
“A Peace of paradise!”
The hotel consists of beautiful beach front garden villas with 1st class decor & huge beds! It's situated at Bo Phut on the north coast, 5 mins tuk-tuk or taxi ride from The Fishermans Village. Hotel gardens were lovely. The staff were extremely helpful & courteous. We toured the island & thought that Bo Phut was the best beach on the island.
There was nothing to dislike that we didn't already know about - the Sea Wrap restaurant & pool were being renovaited until the end of June & therefore only discovered on check in that all accomodation was room only, however the price charged did reflect this. There are plenty of interesting restaurants close by on beach - Rohd, Cactus or Free House are all resonable & very nice.
Really Good. Few handy tips to other travellers..... 12 May 11
Husband and I stayed here at the end of April. Just after they had floods. Was really impressed! For the price, it's great value. Even the cheapest 'rooms' were individual villas. The place has a really nice feel, there is massage on site by the pool for only 300 baht for an hour. (about 6.75!) Really great.
In all honesty, the food is overpriced. The restaurant on the beach, is absolutely lovely. You sit on cushions, with a little table, right beside the sea. Lovely. BUT - here's a tip. We did this on the first night of an 8 night stay, and paid full price. Then, we realised that at least 3/4 times during the week, they did special offers. One of them was 40% off everything on the food menu! The next was 40% off all european food....etc etc. So, be wise. Do eat on the beach, as it's fab. But pick a night when they slash the prices by 40%. It happens at least 3 times in a week.
We found an amazing little place, walk to the resort entrance, and it's literally right there on the right hand side. Looks like a little shack, can't remember the name...Ki Siri I think?? Anyway, totally authentic Thai food, great taste, and amazingly cheap! Couple of large beers, 2 starters and 2 mains all for around 400 baht, compared to the 1,500 that the same would cost you in the Peace Resort.
Also, there's a great mini-market just across the road from the resort, next to a chemist. You can get pretty much everything in there, beer, water, food, toiletries etc. Really cheap. Oh, and you can buy pure coconut facial oil from the chemist next door....ladies....do it. Amazing stuff for your skin. I usually use the likes of Lancome, Dior, etc. But this stuff is way better! Slap it on every night, you'll have soft, line free skin in a few days. The locals swear by it.
Lastly, yes, it's heavily German. But you know what? That wasn't a problem at all. Only a few kids, and they were all very well behaved. The Germans were all polite, and there was no loud/boozy behaviour at all, which was great. FIshermans Village is a short walk away, and all in all, it's a great location! Oh - the only annoying thing is that they don't stick to their 'half hour towel rule'. People do put towels down on beds really early, and then disappear for most of the day. Annoying. Anyway, aside from that, would recommend the place. Good food, laid back, good loction. Thumbs up!
“The Resort promises exactly what it says in its name”
We booked many months in advance via Trailfinders and I have avidly read the reviews ever since. We had booked a Sea Breeze Bungalow which is one of the larger bungalows and stayed for 11 nights. We arrived just before Easter and stayed until the first May Bank holiday. As a consequence the Resort was full when we arrived.. The resort is on a lovely quiet Beach. The bungalow was large, spacious, and was kept spotlessly clean with the bathroom being as big as the bedroom. Complimentary water is provided each day, and the bungalow was cleaned every day, and sheets and towels were changed (if you wanted) each day. The aircon was effective, and when there was a problem, maintenance fixed it immediately. I heard no-one griping about the accommodation. There are tea and coffee making facilities and fridge with a minibar in each room. The Resort in my view is very well run. There is a proper management team, the owner was present at the Resort most days, the gardens are well cared for, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The Resort is nestled by some 5* resorts, and I think the Management is concious of this. The management actively promote their restuarant and facilities and take pride in what they do. The Food & Beverage Manager organised both a thank you party with some entertainment and also a Thai Buffet with food from the 4 Thai regions plus live music from a group of musicians from NE Thailand and Thai dancing and it was a superb night and well attended. The reason I point this out is that if you read the previous reviews the impression you get is that the food is OK at best, at the restuarant, but expensive. This can be off putting but I dont agree that the previous reviews are accurate in that respect. The restuarant overlooks the beach and each night they have tables on the beach plus smaller tables with large bean bags and there is nothing better than eating by the sea and there is real ambience which makes it special. The service is impeccable and a thank you to Mr X who looked after us each time we eat. This a 4* Resort with a professional team of chefs. The food was freshly cooked to a high standard and was not expensive, and certainly not in comparison to other restaurants in Fishermans Village. If you want to eat cheaply then there are plenty of places in Bo Phut to do this, but you wont get the quality or the care. My wife is a vegetarian and with the Thai Buffet and in relation to the Thai set meal we had, the Chef and kitchen made sure that my wife was given variety and choice and the food was very good and cooked separately. Cost is all relative, but if you want a really expensive meal go to Zazens which has one of the best restuarants on the Island. This a 10-15 min walk from the Hotel. We had lunch twice there and dinner, and dinner was on the Terrace, lit by large morrocan red lamps and is a great experience both culinary and in terms of ambience. I mention this because some members of the same family that own and run the Peace Resort, also own and run Zazens. Saying the Sea Wrap restuarant is expensive provides a wrong impression and hides the care and quality provided by the Kitchen. Certain things are expensive like imported wine, so we drank beer instead! Life can be tough at times! I also think that peoples perceptions of what should be cheap no longer apply in a world where the price of food has dramatically risen. But hey this is not a political rant!
Break fast is at the same place and there is plenty of choice and again the staff are very friendly and efficient. Lots of fresh food and fruit, all kept cool and well stocked. Thanks again to Julee who looked after us each morning.
In light of previous reviews about the pool, the pool was clean and well maintained. The Resort was full so beds were at a premium both at the Pool and on the beach. Unfortunately you will never stop people from reserving beds. Its how you deal with it thats important. We found beds at the Pool and whilst it was more difficult on the Beach when the Resort was full, we simply used the shade and laid on the towels that are provided for you. In any event the previous comments about the pool area will now be redundant as the Resort has closed for renovation work on the pool, pool bar and the restuarant. This is in terms of improvement more than anything else. In terms of the furnishings in the bungalow there was nothing tired about those, but then I am a bloke and my only concern was how many channels there were on the TV! The bed was very comfortable, and the only gripe we had were that there were no draws for our clothes.
As regards front of house, Reception was always manned, the staff spoke good English, and were always very courteous and helpful. A special thank you to Connie to whom we spoke to most and who epitomised calm at all times.
I thought some previous reviews were gushing or cliched, but i have to say that staying at the Peace Resort on Bo Phut Beach was a very enjoyable experience and as a consequence we had a relaxing and peaceful holiday. You cant really ask more than that!
we learnt that in the last 5 years the coconut trees on the Island have been afflicted by an infestation that is killing them. The Peace Resort offers free of charge guests to plant trees or plants and they make up a plaque next to each tree or plant. Given the cynicism of the locals about how this issue is being dealt with, please plant a coconut tree. You never know you may return one day to see your tree reaching maturity!
“One of the best in Bophut Beach - Koh Samui” / 16 Apr 11
I have visited Thailand many times before, this was my first holiday to the island of Koh Samui. My partner and I (both 33) arrived on a 20.10pm flight into Koh Samui airport and were at the hotel within 30 minutes form touching the tarmac. The hotel is aprx. 10 mins away in a Taxi, the hotel will arrange this for you if requested before arrival and the fare is added to your room bill.
Now, I must say at this stage, that the weather upon our arrival was exceptionally wet and windy, the rain remained torrential for the first 5 days, the airport was closed just after we landed and remained so for some time. This had been the case apparently for the previous week and the people and businesses of Samui were seriously up against it. Despite this though, we arrived at the Peace Resort to be greeted warmly and professionally by the reception staff and concierge. Our luggage was immediately covered and carried by the bell boys, and the reception team offered us refreshing towels and some fruit teas whilst we checked in. At check in, we were offered a free upgrade to one of the hotels Deluxe Terrace Rooms. The upgrade was superb, a much larger room, with a superior washroom, and bedroom area. Also, the air-con in the upgraded room was much more effective and was controllable individually in the room.
As the rain was consistent and without break, we did not leave the hotel to make our way down into the Village (Fisherman's Village - Bophut Beach) as the flooding on the road outside was relatively deep, and the beach route in the dark given the weather was a definite no go. We chose to eat in the hotel's 'Sea-Wrap Restaurant' for the first four evenings. The food, service and cocktails were superb. Whilst we ordered from the Thai cuisine options on the Menu, there was also other global choices. The staff in the restaurant were excellent on all the evenings we dined in there. Weather permitting, the beach area in the evening is arranged with cushions, bean bags and candle lit low rise tables. It's a delightful ambience, with a very relaxed and romantic style. In the late evening the hotel bar generally remains quiet and closes around the 11.30pm area. This also means that generally the property remains quiet from Midnight. The 'Sea-Wrap' twins as the breakfast restaurant in the mornings from 7am-10am. Breakfast is also good, with a range of choices, juices, breads and fruit. The 'Egg-Station' serves all styles of cooked eggs and these are cooked fresh to order. The hotel through the day remains quiet, with no pool activities and less focus on family/child activities. There is a lunchtime menu with a promo of the day, and a happy hour at the bar from 4pm-6pm. Also, on the beach there are subtle beach sellers with everything from food and drink to cushions and clothing.
In additional to the hotel, the Peace Resort Spa is located opposite. The treatments are of high standard and there are many options to choose from. If however you are looking for a more casual environment, the small massage/beauty therapists locally are superb, and far less costly. I can personally recommend the Thaweeboon Massage and Treatments which is just outside the hotel, about 200 mtrs to the left.
A final brief note on the local area. If you head out right along the beach, or left out of the hotel drive, both routes will take you to 'Fishermans Village'. This is the main location for bars/restaurants/shops etc. There are many reviews and recommendations on the sites online, particularly www.asiawebdirect.com. A couple of the bars were particularly friendly, The Emerald - Irish Bar, and Azure (superb for sport coverage). The best restaurant in our opinion was the 'The Pier', cool, contemporary and a very chilled Thai ambience. It's worth spending some time in the village area both day and night, it's a very relaxed and welcoming place.
All in all, an excellent hotel, with superb, seamless service, despite some horrendous weather conditions.
Wedding on 1 Feb 11
Traumhafter Strand, super Personal, sehr umfangreiches Speisenangebot, perfekte Zimmer. Dies Hotel hätte eigentlich 5 Sterne verdient. Wer halli galli sucht soll nach Chaweng fahren, wer einen traumhaften Urlaub genießen will sollte hier buchen.
PEACE BY NAME PEACE BY NATURE
The Peace Resort comprises a collection of charming villas and an accomodation block set in well maintaned tropical gardens. Located right on the beach and about 10 minutes walk away from the busy Fishermans Village, the setting is tranquil and idyllic though not for anyone seeking bright ligts and entertainment.
Perfect Setting and hotel
We had a lovely stay. The breakfast choice at the hotel was brilliant with so many different things to choose every morning. The hotel is ideally situated next to the beach and has a great swimming pool. The hotel is lovely and clean and the staff are very friendly. A short walk along the beach brings you down to fishermans village with a huge choice of restaurants and bars. We really enjoyed ourselves and will go back
Did not fail to impress / Stayed Feb 10,11
I visited Peace resort for a 5 day stay in Samui with a partner. I knew I had done well as the taxi pulled in to the driveway. Immediately the staff were attentive with a refreshing glass of drink. I had chosen the garden bungalow but it was not available for all nights, so stayed in the deluxe wing the first night. It was so good we stayed in that room the whole time, not wanting to move into the even slightly more expensive garden bungalow. The deluxe wing room was so delightfully furnished and decorated and also included a large stone bath in the front which was lovely to use on one night with a bottle of champagne. Highly recommend the deluxe wing room. I dont understand how people say the pool area was not nice, I found it very suitable and it is very large. Even the parents with children were far enough away in the shallow end of the pool they were not annoying at all. There is more than enough pool beds and there is a nice variety there, some with more shade, some facing away, some facing the sun.
Really I could write so much more, but essentially I could not have been happier with Peace resort, and think it fantastic value for money and was just a dream stay with my partner.
If I would only have one recommendation, that would be to have wifi in the rooms, but then who wants to use computers on holidays? It would be useful for skype calls from an iphone however. Also, the computers could be improved slightly with card readers for all different cards.
Nice Hotel, Nice People
The room was very good and the staffs were very nice and helpful
Amazing Hotel

My husband and me enjoyed staying at Peace Resort enormously. The service is perfect, the bungalows are stylish, generously sized and surrounded by lush plants and the location is great if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist towns. It's not too far to walk to Fisherman's Village for a bit of night life though, just 15 minutes along the beach and you're there. Staff are amazing and will look after you very well. We had a wonderful time and would certainly stay there again.
Fantastic accomodation in ideal location
Peace resort was fantastic accomodation for the second part of our honeymoon. After the hustle and bustle of Bangkok the peace resort was quiet, clean, and the bungalows are beautiful. Loved the bathrooms more than anything. The food at the restaurant was brilliant, lovely breakfast selection. My only critique is that evening meals were pricey but could be a nice treat during your holiday as there are so many more places to eat at the fishermans village (10min walk) or in chaweng (20min drive). Beach bbqs were ideal for lunchtimes. Service was fantastic too
Highly recommend - TrudiNewZealand
Great resort, loved the bungalows in the tropical garden type of layout. All room classes are slightly different. We stayed 10 nights in Wing room with bath on balcony - room was very unique and we loved it. Our next choice would be the Seabreeze bungalows - but whatever you pick they are nicer than a hotel room type of set up. Staff very kind and obliging. Magic housekeeping done while we were out. Restaurant on the beach just delightful with lovely breakfast, enjoyed poolside lunch, happy hour drinks and good dinners. Monsoon depression flooding while we were there but it did not detract from our holiday - OK we got wet but it was hot! Everyone just got on with it and the sun did come out. Much prefer the area of Bophut as not so busy and the Fishermans Village within walking great for shopping and dinner. Easy to catch the local transport bus to Chaweng if you want for more shops and nightlife. We say if you are in doubt then just go there - we loved it.

Such a beautiful place
After a busy couple of days in bangkok, coming to the peace resort was bliss. The staff were always very friendly and extremly helpful. Our little bugalow was always clean and was made up daily and was always done during breakfast! The beach at the front was lovely and even though the sand is a bit harsh on your feet you do get used to it. There was a big choice of breakfast which was always changing. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. We went to phuket after and a hotel there was just not the same.

5 Girlfriends LOVED the Peace Resort
I just spent 5 nights at the Peach resort and truly loved it! My private bungalow was so charming, clean, quiet and well serviced. The front desk personnel were very helpful with information about the island activities and will helping me change my flight with Bangkok Airways. The hotel recommended a boat excursion but when we arrived at the boat the boat had been over booked and the company was not being kind about our cancellation. Peace Resort talked with them, and it was worked out and we were not charged for our cancellation. We ended up going with Samui Boat Charters in Fisherman's Village- who were fantastic! I highly recommend Peace Resort- the breakfast buffet was delicious and was included with the room price and "Julie" our server each morning was wonderful- as were the others who's names I did not get. Great view- clean beach- wonderful pool- beautiful grounds- quiet- good location- short walk to Fisherman's Village-
We had a very pleasant stay at this resort
The staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere at the Peace resort. The clientele are a mix of mainly europeans; I heard French, Italian and German being spoken.
The villas are charmingly adequate (we were staying in the lowest grade) and very well serviced - we had a lovely lady cleaning ours, turning the beds down and changing the towels/bedsheets (everyday if we wished). All the villas are surrounded by abundant tropical vegetation and beautifully kept gardens. There are many examples of those beautiful Thai touches such as flowers and decorations with drinks, ornamental fountain pools etc - quite delightful. There are some examples of indigenous wildlife to spot in the gardens too, many different varieties of butterfly and other insects flutter by and there are bird calls sounding all day. We saw squirrels jumping in the trees and snakes inching their way up tree trunks.
The buffet restaurant had every type of breakfast food imaginable - could try something different every day; again the staff were lovely and helpful. The restaurant had an excellent menu - unfortunately we only ate there once on our first night (we were there for 2 weeks with a wedding party - so had many other calls on our time to socialise in the evenings). The meal we had was certainly memorable - sitting on the beachfront with cocktails; freshly cooked seafood; cheerful witty waiting staff - loved it. Wish we could have eaten there a few more times - the prices certainly seemed competitive with other eateries in and around the Fisherman's village.
The view by the swimming pool is fabulous - looking out over the sea and Koh Pha-Ngan. There are plenty of sunbeds by the pool - never had any trouble finding somewhere to park our bodies - even when we had visitors from other hotels - the staff were accommodating if we required extra towels. The bar was well stocked and serviced by attentive staff. The massage sala by the pool was well used with lovely ladies doing expert massage treatments (we tried the Aloe Vera one - soothing - and a Thai massage - very uplifting!)
The computer room was very adequate - four computers - there was always room if I wanted to send an email or similar. The reception was always manned - even when we came in to pick our keys up in the wee hours of the morning - the receptionist cheerfully told us we were the last ones back that night/morning! Very helpful service on our last day - with an early start to get to the airport; alarm call; bellboy picks up bags; collect our packed breakfast/lunch and get into taxi - no worries. The taxi service was generally brilliant - airconditioned taxis for up to 12 people for competitive rates - instantly available (every time we needed one anyway) - drivers very helpful.
The resort spa was like going into another world of peace and tranquility. I had a two and half hour self-indulgent session there (jacuzzi/steam, Thai massage and facial) and thoroughly recommend it as an experience not to be missed - the whole package includes complimentary tea and refreshments all in a cool, calming environment - one of the highlights of my holiday and well worth paying a little bit extra for.
The August month appears to be a mosquito-ridden time to stay in Koh Samui (although I've never been before - nor in that month - so making assumptions here). I suffered badly with mosquito bites (they like white meat!!!). The local people are helpful in finding remedies for bites (big tub of eucalyptus-smelling green stuff I can't pronounce the name of) but we had problems with preventing being bitten. We took plug-in repellants and sprays - but still they were biting. The hotel maintenance people very kindly plugged in a second one in case ours wasn't adequate (they also spray regularly around the rooms). Would recommend to anyone susceptible - take a net maybe - although not everyone was being as badly bitten as me - sods law who they pick on sometimes isn't it!
My husband, son (21 year old - stayed in his own villa) and I all agree - we really enjoyed our stay at this resort.
